Though 2007 is not able to return at the retail record books because of ho-hum vacation, there have been several notable bright areas in home decor sales.
KitchenAid stand mixers, fleece throws and electronic frames are a number of the products sparking house sales thus far this year, merchandising executives said.
Merchants down and up the food chain will be mentioning the price-value equation throughout what's shaping up to become among the very promotional material fourth quarters in the past couple of decades.

Walmart.com is wrap its online vacation story about three topics this year: "excellent gifts for your house" calls out things such as coffeemakers, appliances and massage seats, bedding and barbecues; "prepare for guests" performs up products like beds, futon mattreses and seasonal decoration; and even "warm for chilly" spotlights goods like heaters.
"In Walmart.com, we have experienced strong customer reaction to streamlined appliances, like sewing machines, futon mattresses and massage seats," Amy Colella, a spokeswoman in Walmart.com, informed HFN.
"Additionally, we have seen solid furniture functionality, especially in media storage and stands driven by continuing strong performance in TV's, video rockers, gambling furniture and office furniture," she explained.
On the soft house side, electrical blankets, accredited children bedding and style duvet sets are forcing vacation house sales.
This calendar year, Walmart.com introduced its own website to Store programthat enables shoppers to get tens of thousands of products--many of which can be Internet exclusives--and have them sent to a regional Wal-Mart shop at no cost.
Mervyns is discovering that opening-price-point product is outselling higher-priced fare throughout what's turning out to be a challenging holiday selling season to get its promotional department store chain.
"Overall , company hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire," Michael Rotar, Mervyns' divisional merchandise manager of dwelling, informed HFN. "The customer has 100 percentage been voting for their buck."

These include costume presents from Nambe, Michael Aram, Kosta Boda and Faberge, also in housewares, candles and picture frames, Laneve explained.
Bloomingdale's is encouraging the"price-value-item connection at great, better and better price factors."
Even though the retailer's house company last month has been strong, December was"not good," Laneve explained. On the other hand, this season is young, '' he explained.
